Helpdesk Technician

Salary – Competitive Rates of Pay

Chalvington are looking for a person to join our Helpdesk team to work alongside other team members who together are responsible for providing IT, Telephone and Connectivity support to our customers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Answering telephone calls and emails sent to the ticket system
  • Logging issues and requests into our ticketing system
  • Responding to problems / requests and attempting to resolve
  • Dealing with Incidents and Change Requests
  • Configuring hardware including routers
  • Escalating more complex incidents and changes
  • Part of a rota for paid out-of-hours support (waking hours only)

Requirements

  • Excellent telephone manner and good literacy skills
  • High punctuality – we expect our staff to be ready to work at start times
  • A basic understanding of IT terminology
  • Have a willingness to learn
  • Confidence working in a busy environment
  • Employ a logical approach to problem solving
  • Ideally live within 25 miles of our Hailsham based office
  • Be able to work shifts based on a rota – varying between 07:00 – 09:30 starts
  • Must have the right to live and work in the UK.

Desirable

  • Previous working experience for a Managed Service Provider (MSP)
  • Previous working within a IT environment
  • Experience working within a customer facing environment

      Field Engineer

      Salary – Competitive Rates of Pay

      Chalvington are looking for a person to join our team of Field Engineers who are responsible for providing both onsite and remote support maintenance and installs to our customers.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Travelling to customer sites to provide onsite support and maintenance.
      • While not at customer sites, resolving escalated issues and change requests remotely
      • Building, Configuring, and Installing new hardware such as Notebooks, Desktops, Switches, Access Points.
      • Helping onboarding of new customers such as deploying Endpoint Protection.
      • Part of a rota for paid out-of-hours support (waking hours only)

      Requirements

      • At least three years of proven IT experience
      • Comfortable working unsupervised and as part of a team
      • Excellent presentation, communication, and literacy skills
      • High punctuality – we expect our staff to be ready to work at start times
      • An excellent understanding IT terminology
      • Proven experience with:
        • Windows Server / Desktop
        • Active Director Management
        • Microsoft 365 technologies, OneDrive, SharePoint
        • Firewalls, routers, switches, and access points

        Project Engineer

        Salary – Competitive Rates of Pay 

        Chalvington are looking for a person to join our team of Project Engineers who are responsible for implementing varied IT projects and changes across many different types of customer networks and setups. 

        Depending on the type of project this could be as part of a project team, however you are also expected to be able to work on smaller projects independently. 

        You will work with a Project Lead to deliver the solution proficiently and on budget. 

        Responsibilities include:

        • Scoping and designing of new and prospective projects
        • Assisting with project planning on larger projects
        • Building, Configuring and Implementing Projects to specification
        • Ensuring documentation following a project is up to date and assist with training of the team when required.
        • Onboarding of new customers which would include deploying relevant monitoring tools, configuring system/backup monitoring and documenting
        • Technical Pre-Sales consulting assisting the sales team on larger tenders
        • Providing remote and onsite support for complex issues and changes to customers.

        Requirements

        • At least five years of proven IT experience
        • Comfortable working unsupervised and as part of a team
        • Excellent presentation, communication, and literacy skills
